Case Study: Photoshoot – Moon 2

Equipment used for this shoot:

Camera: Nikon Z6 Camera Body
Lenses: Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 70-200mm f/2.8G ED VR II
Lighting: Daylight / Interior Lighting

This project was my second shoot with Moon, we aimed for a more royal and classy aesthetic. For Moon personally, she sought to redefine her chosen outfit and what it signified in her own life, through this shoot and we certainly did just that.

As the outfit was a bridal one, we wished to again utilise the white in the photos as a neutral colour whilst the pink hijab added a smidgen of femininity against the regal backdrop of the location. And of course, additionally, Moon’s tiara reinforced the photos emphasis towards a more royal look.

The location’s lighting was somewhat inconsistent, ambient lightening was bright with a somewhat cool hue whereas the internal lighting, as is typically expected in upscale hotels, had a somewhat gloomy brightness which was picked up as having a slightly excessive warmer, yellowy hue.

We took advantage of ambient lighting by taking close up shots, which produced soft shadows that complimented Moon’s face. Samples can be seen below:

In the following round of shooting, we then shot facing directly into the ambient lighting, resulting in some of my favourite shots. Samples can be seen below:

On location, we managed to discover a dimly lit spot where ambient lighting was abundant, after a bit of experimenting, we were able to achieve some truly regal shots! Samples can be seen below:

We then wrapped up the shot in a side passage outside the location. Moon’s uncompromising North African features such as her piercing eyes certainly stood out here. Samples can be seen below:
