Often perceived by most to be quite a conservative symbol, myself and Moon sought to stylise (within reason) and display various hijab-inspired looks for this shoot.
As instructed, Moon wore a white outfit with brown trousers with silky pink headscarf. A lot of the colour in the photos would be illustrated by the vibrant green backdrop which would be complimented by the sweet pinkish hue of Moon’s headscarf. Her white clothes were intended to add a sense of balance to the final photos as they were of a neutral colour in this instance. Lighting on this day was somewhat harsh and we initially looked to avoid casting sharp shadows by selecting favourable spots at our chosen location (we did however deviate ever so slightly as they shoot progressed – more on this later). Samples can be seen below:

I mentioned earlier that we preferred to avoid posing directly into the sunlight, we did deviate from this condition briefly. Below are sample shots (which turned out better than I expected). Moral of the story: Always keep an open mind!

We then followed up by adding a sense of uncompromising style, with some feminine elements still retained, to deliver some stylistic shots. Sample shots can be seen below:

And finally, we then shot some chic looks through using a sleek black hijab outfit. The coloured skirt served to add a slight degree of colour in otherwise neutral colour dominated set up. It should be noted that this was a brief second shot whereby lighting, or lack of it. Sample shots can be viewed below.
